Taking the Bible Personally

I find it admirable when higher level staff take on work that is usually assigned to lower levels of management or operations. An example is when a restaurant manager cleans tables or fills in for a server. I encourage my students to never think so highly of themselves that they won’t pick up trash or unclog a toilet.
Today, while visiting Grace Bible Church, I see the Senior Pastor, JD Shaw, serving as an usher at the beginning of the service.
I asked him if he was moonlighting as an usher.

It was always my wish that my children would bypass me in accomplishments.
All three did it by the time they were twelve and continue to push the distance even farther.

Life Leads to Chapter Title Remembrance

It was a jokingly challenging conference for me and Ole Miss as the Christian Society for Kinesiology, Leisure, and Sports Studies met at Baylor University last week.

First, Baylor basketball coach Scott Drew spoke at our Thursday evening banquet. His brother, Bryce, hit a last-second shot to defeat Ole Miss in a March Madness game years ago.

Second, Baylor President, Dr. Linda Livingstone, who, like Dale Connally and me, worked at least one summer at Camp Soaring Hawk in southwest Missouri, commented on last year’s Sugar Bowl Baylor victory over Ole Miss.… Read more
